The Library opened in Fall 1995. It provides technical and professional information to support the degree/certificate programs and courses at Bellingham Technical College.
Mission Statement
The Library's mission is to meet the information needs of the Bellingham Technical College community in an environment which encourages lifelong learning skills and student success by providing responsive service and accessible resources in a learner-centered environment.
Resources
The Library's collection includes books, journals, cassettes, technical manuals, CD/ROM's and videotapes. The Library is a resource for students, faculty, and the community. Users are encouraged to ask librarians for help in using the wide range of resources.
The Library offers a gateway to information through its computer network. Resources include an on-line catalog, computerized journal indexes (many are full-text), access to local area libraries' collections (See Reciprocal Agreements and Interlibrary Loans, below), Internet searching and word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.
Tours
Tours and instruction in the use of Library's resources are given to classes on request and individual assistance is always provided.
Study Areas
A variety of study areas are available in the library, including quiet and group study rooms. A copy machine, computers with word processing, VCRs and cassette players are available for student use.
Reciprocal Agreements and Interlibrary Loans
To augment the collections and resources available to the Bellingham Technical College community, the Library has reciprocal agreements with Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College, Skagit Valley College and Northwest Indian College. The Library can also borrow books and journals from other libraries through its membership in the OCLC/WLN network.
