Workforce High Demand ($437,500) Process and Control Technology Expansion
Expand by 50 fulltime enrollments to meet the growing employer needs in the region's highly automated and continuous process (advanced) manufacturing industry Process Technology, Instrumentation and Control Technology, Electronics and Electro Mechanical Technology.
Workforce High Demand ($318,375) Commercial and Industrial Construction Expansion 2nd year of this grant to expand by 43 fulltime enrollments to meet the growing employer needs in the region's construction industry with an emphasis on Welding and Construction Management.
Workforce Development ($73,000) Dental Hygiene Program Development
2nd year of two years of funding to develop and implement a new Dental Hygiene program to start in fall 2008.
Center of Excellence ($120,000) Northwest Center of Process & Control Technology
Funding to support BTC's Center of Excellence that has been designated by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges as a statewide leaders in specialized workforce education and training for industries that help the state's economy grow.
Transfer High Demand ($43,750)
Expansion of math and science courses to expand the pipeline of students to increase bachelor's degree graduates in math, science, engineering, engineering technology, and computer science through increased supply of transfer students to those areas.
I-BEST, Integrated Basic Skills Education and Training ($68,250)
Increase enrollments in IBEST pathways. These programs help students increase their basic and English skills so that they can enter several career pathways at BTC (health, welding, appliance repair, business, and technology).
Early Childhood Education, Math & Science ($11,100)
Increase enrollment in early childhood, math and science courses that are responsive to changes within education and prepare early childhood educators with the skills necessary to build strong math and science skills in the children they serve.
Opportunity Grant ($344,000)
Implementation of a program to provide wrap around student services and financially support low-income students through an educational pathway that prepares skilled workers for high demand occupations.
City of Bellingham Grant - Providing Dental Services ($9,000)
Provide dental services to low income Bellingham citizens through Bellingham Tech's Dental Clinic.
Job Skills Program ($60,000)
Provided to Bellingham Technical College and matched by Alcoa Intalco Works to provide Electro Mechanical Technology courses to current workers as part of an apprenticeship program.
Best Practice Innovation ($10,000)
Enhance the technology associated with marketing, recruitment, and advising to reach . an audience who demands information quickly and easily by providing relevant and interactive web-based information.
Department of Labor Pathways to Healthcare ($361295 0708 of $922,835)
This is BTC's portion of the $2.4 million three year federal grant awarded to Bellingham Technical College & Whatcom Community College. The project increases access to Healthcare programs with an emphasis on underserved and under represented student populations through recruitment and retention activities and services.
